SYNOPSIS
The Best Part of Yourself is a pilot program in therapeutic puppet mediation that draws on the dialectics and punchlines of the wellness and self-help industry, punctuated by a few indoctrination mechanisms.
It was originally created to support individuals who are emotionally vulnerable and/or experiencing mental overload. The program’s initial aim was to use the puppet as a projection medium and a tool for emotional channeling, promising the patient inner healing.
After a few years of use, the program’s side effects emerged in certain patients who developed fused relationships and became hyper-dependent on their puppets. At the same time, as if in a relationship of communicating vessels, the puppets became extroverted and developed autonomous thought.
Faced with the hold their puppets exert over them, the puppeteers have lost themselves and are unable to break free from relationships that have become toxic.
The dramaturgical arc of The Best Part of Yourself is thus driven by the course of treatment that the program sets up to detoxify its patient base. It is led by a charismatic entity promising these vulnerable people TRUE liberation.
